 Of all the "grunge" bands, Nirvana are arguably the most famous/notorious. The band, fronted by guitarist/singer/songwriter Kurt Cobain, broke into the mainstream with their second, now legendary album "Nevermind" after leaving Sub Pop for Geffen Records. The record was a worldwide hit and was followed by 1993's "In Utero", which was arguably the band's best album. By this time it was obvious that Kurt was in big trouble with a heroin addiction and alleged problems with his wife Courtney Love. His suicide in 1994 shocked Nirvana fans everywhere and several youths took their own lifes. |
